In October 2022, I sat in a lawn chair and stared at a fence for a week.

It was the most pivotal thing I've ever done.

I'd just been fired.

It was Colorado, and winter had set in. I wrapped myself in a blanket, sat outside, and stared at a privacy fence.

Somewhere in there I made a decision on my back porch that something had to change. I texted my sister exactly that. She told me to try meditating.

Meditating was so far off my radar that I laughed to myself — and then did it anyway.

I noticed a calmness I had never felt before.

Then I wanted to know why it worked. That's how I found Dr Joe Dispenza's research on meditation and the brain — and once I understood some of the science, I got curious about everything else.

Then I learned something nobody had told me

Our beliefs are formed in childhood. And they can be changed.

My brain exploded. How had I never known that? Why had nobody told me?

Maybe the Universe knew I was finally open and ready.

The beliefs I was handed

I'm the youngest of eight. I was raised in a closed religious community with strong teachings.

I absorbed beliefs I never agreed to — and one of them was that I wasn't important. That there was nothing about me that was special or unique.

That became I'm not worthy. That belief expressed itself in relationships. I didn't show my vulnerability.

That ran my decisions for forty years. Every relationship I had. Every choice I made.

I'm not telling you this to say where I came from was wrong. I'm telling you because most of us are carrying something we never chose — and almost nobody knows it can be put down or rewired.

I've since coached women from all kinds of backgrounds and many different religions, and I keep meeting the same beliefs underneath:

You shouldn't think too much of yourself.

It isn't humble to want more.

You should be seen and not heard.

Wanting money says something about who you are.

I don't teach religion or spirituality, and I don't encourage or discourage anyone's faith. That isn't what this work is.

What I do is much simpler: find the things you're carrying that don't support the life you actually want to live, and show you how to rewire them and put them down.

What I did next

After two and a half weeks, they offered me my job back with back pay. I took it.

Except I wasn't the same Christi anymore.

I went back to sixty and seventy hour weeks. Good money, full benefits, a retirement. A beautiful house and an SUV. The American dream, and it no longer meant anything.

In May 2023 I took the leap and went on leave. For the first time in years I stopped the long hours, took off my watch — literally — and worked on being present.

I removed my limiting beliefs out of my way like boulders in my path, one by one.

It was unnerving. No regular income. Having to ask for help. Trusting that I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

My family saw I was on a journey. It looked nothing like the Christi they knew — and they supported me completely.

I wasn't paddling upstream. I was in the flow, and it felt supported. Once I understood how beliefs are formed and how they can change, I wanted other people to have that same path — so I trained as a coach to teach it

Who I am now

I'm analytical by nature — I need to understand why something works before I'll trust it. If that's you too, we'll get along.

I work mostly with women untangling beliefs formed in childhood, midlife career changes, and the dynamics that come with big families and closed religious communities.

Beyond the work

I'm a mother of two. I travel, I snowboard, I hike, and I like to fly. I write books and, lately, songs.

I grew up the youngest of eight in a small Texas town, which is where I learned to be quiet in a loud house. These days I go looking for quiet on purpose — Alaska, a Colorado trail, three days with no cell signal.

I like to fly

Other ways I can support you, outside one-on-one coaching.
